Full Release Notes
**Render with Blender, an AI tab, and the community's contributions.**
IngeTrazo renders photorealistic images with the Blender you already have
installed, by day or by night with your own lights, and can render the view
by itself every time you stop moving through the model. The AI assistant and
the MCP bridge now live in a sidebar tab, and Window ▸ Panels hides the tabs
you don't use. From the community: command search (F3), Extension API 2, STL
import, Paste in Place and Zoom Selection. Plus a batch of fixed reports,
including the protractor that did not give the typed angle in millimetres or
inches.
### Added
- **Render with Blender** (#181), a tab in the sidebar:
- Uses the Blender installed on the system (EEVEE or Cycles); if it is not
found, explains how to install it for each package (Windows, Mac,
AppImage, Flatpak).
- **Ambience**: day (the sun of the Shadows panel, with its strength),
night or overcast.
- **Point lights and spots** placed with a click on the model, with colour
temperature (Kelvin), power, cone and direction; they are saved in the
document and undone with Ctrl+Z.
- **Render finishes** for each material (glass, water, metal, glossy…),
from the right-click menu on the swatch; «Automatic» guesses from the
name.
- Figures that face the camera (Sumari, image trees) come out facing it
and cut out.
- The image opens in its own window, with zoom, Save and Open folder.
- **Sync with the view**: with Blender kept open in the background, a
draft of what you see appears within a second or two every time the
camera stops; editing the model reloads the scene.
- **AI tab**: the AI assistant and the MCP bridge in the sidebar. The prompt
takes several lines (Enter sends, Shift+Enter breaks a line); Ctrl+Shift+A
brings the tab forward even when it is hidden.
- **Window ▸ Panels**: every sidebar tab, extension tabs included, to hide or
show; the same list with a right-click on the tabs. Hidden tabs stay hidden
after a restart.
- **Command search (F3)**, like Blender's F3 or Rhino's command line: type a
few letters and Enter runs the command. It finds any action of the window
(menus, tools, panels, extensions) in the menu language or in English, by
its menu path, by initials («rf» → Reverse Faces) and despite a typo
(«orinet»), ignoring accents and case. Each result is a single row, as in
Blender (faded path ▸ icon and name, shortcut on the right); the box opens
under the mouse, inside the modelling area and without covering the side
or top bars, with ten rows in view; right-click ▸ Change shortcut… opens
Preferences on it, and a letter typed in an open menu searches only that
menu. Hovering a result shows, as in Blender, its name, what it does and
its keys. Also in Help ▸ Search commands… and in the sheet composer, with
its own commands (#168, @canalsecuario-blip). The status bar mentions it
when the program opens.
- **The composer's tools have short names** («Chain dimension»); the long
explanation stays in the tooltip.
- **STL import** (binary and ASCII) with the model's unit and flat faces
merged, read in the background; and **Edit ▸ Simplify Mesh** (#161,
@kagehak).
- **Extension API 2**: several named panels per extension that come back
where they were left, drawing over the viewport with `world_to_pixels`,
file types of their own and workspaces (#141, @felixriestra). Several
extensions can also share one tab and add entries to the Extensions menu;
the guide explains where each kind of interface belongs.
- **Paste in Place** (Ctrl+Alt+V), into any group (#188), and **Zoom
Selection** (#193) (@canalsecuario-blip).
- **Delete erases the edge or face under the cursor** without selecting it;
Backspace erases only the selection (#98, @canalsecuario-blip).
- **DWG import on Windows, macOS and the Flatpak**: the LibreDWG converter
ships in every package (#101, #180).
- **Italian translation** (#182, @deedend) and Brazilian Portuguese brought
up to date (#186, @dafrobozao).
- In Help ▸ About, the credits stop under the mouse and scroll with the
wheel.
### Fixed
- **0.5.6.1: the AI assistant, the MCP bridge and Render with Blender load
again** in the Windows installer and portable build, the macOS `.dmg`, the
AppImage and the `.tar.gz` (#208, reported by @fafecm and
@blender3darchitect). In 0.5.6 they showed «error loading»: a new module
used only by those three extensions was left out of the package. The
packaging now gathers everything the extensions import by itself, and
`--check` loads every bundled extension in CI, so a package with a broken
extension can no longer be published. The Flatpak and the Snap were not
affected.
- **A typed angle, scale factor or number of sides was scaled by the
document's unit**: in millimetres, «45» in Rotate turned 0.045° (#176,
reported by Esteban Penzo).
- **An edge copied with Move across a face did not split it** (#177,
reported by Lefteris Schetakis).
- **Ctrl+Z in the middle of a line** steps the chain back to the previous
vertex instead of continuing from a point that no longer exists (#175,
@pacaeiro).
- **The Tape Measure switched mode on Ctrl+Z**: now only a tap of Ctrl does
(#183); it no longer makes zero-length guides nor clips its preview (#173,
#174, @pacaeiro).
- **Panning was very slow at the closest zoom**: it now follows the depth of
what is under the cursor (#184).
- **Non-finite values** (a huge number in the value box) no longer stall the
tools nor get saved into the document (#185, first part). Reported by
Alejandro Limón.
- **The composer's chain dimension** kept ending after each segment (#187,
@tonfdd).
- **The toolbar shows the configured shortcut**, not the factory one (#171,
@pacaeiro).
- **Rectangle**: the square inference locks (#169, #170, @pacaeiro).
- **The Push/Pull cursor disappeared on Windows** after using it (#191).
- **The AI assistant on Mac could not connect**
(`CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED`): it uses the system's certificates, with
verification kept on (#198, diagnosed by @troya2).
- The unsaved-changes dialog and Qt's standard buttons follow the program's
language (#154, @canalsecuario-blip).
### Antivirus
- The Windows installer is built with a PyInstaller bootloader compiled by
us, which reduces Windows Defender false positives (#162). Code signing
(SignPath) is in progress.
### Tested before release
`scripts/release_check.sh v0.5.5` on `plaza.igz`
(`benchmarks/results/0.5.6.json`): viewport unchanged (paint 9.63 → 9.99 ms,
orbit 10.31 → 9.69 ms), opening the plaza 4.74 → 4.72 s, startup 0.82 →
0.91 s (the new tabs), no leaked objects over six reopenings; fast suite 3444
and slow suite 804 passed.
