A backport release that restores word-level timestamps for unalignable characters from the v3.8.4 line onto the 3.7.x series. Words containing digits, symbols, or foreign script now receive proper timestamps again via a wildcard emission column, fixing a regression introduced by an earlier revert of PR #986. It also adds a regression test and a CI test workflow.
