Full Release Notes

The highlights of this release are an **experimental Rust engine** that turns minutes into seconds on big models, **much smoother huge models** with either engine, the **first point of the drawing tools snapping to the axes**, **orbit and pan without letting go of the wheel**, **an accent colour of your choice** for icons and toolbars, and about fifty fixes. On Windows, the Extension Manager no longer crashes on machines with another program's OpenSSL (#564).

## New

**Experimental Rust engine** (Window ▸ Preferences ▸ General ▸ «Rust engine (experimental)», off by default; it applies the next time you open IngeTrazo). A new native module does the heaviest work. On a 115,883-face plaza:
- hidden lines of a vector sheet view: 150 s → 5 s;
- Intersect Faces with everything selected: 266 s → 9 s;
- Orient Faces: 34 s → 9 s;
- Push/Pull on a large terrain: about 4× faster.

The result is the same as with the usual engine, checked face by face. With the engine on, huge models open as **lightweight meshes**: each group stays as compact arrays and is only built when you edit it or click one of its faces. On a 14-million-face industrial plant (#158), opening goes from 110 s to 16 s, memory from 7.5 GB to 4.8 GB, and saving from 15 s to 9 s, with a byte-identical file.

If the module does not load, IngeTrazo just keeps the usual engine; Help ▸ About tells you which one is in use. If the program once fails to open with the engine on, the next start goes back to the usual engine and tells you; `--python-engine` does the same for one start. Included in Windows, macOS, AppImage and Snap; the Flatpak keeps the usual engine in this version. **It is a test: keep a copy of your files and report anything odd with the `rust-engine` label.**

**IngeTrazo in your colour** (#393). Orange does not suit every desktop, so you can now choose the accent that runs through the whole program: the dots and handles on every icon (the clicks that define a shape, Rotate's pivot, where a drag starts), the toolbar buttons under the mouse and the hints that appear when docking toolbars and panels. In Window ▸ Preferences ▸ General ▸ «Accent colour»:
- **IngeTrazo orange** (the default), **blue**, **green**, **red**, **purple** or **yellow**;
- **«Same as the system»**: the accent you chose for your desktop (when the system shares it with applications), so IngeTrazo looks like one more app on your computer.

It works with the light and dark themes, applies at once without restarting and is remembered. The selection in the 3D view stays orange, so what you picked always stands out from the model.

**Drawing:**
- **«On axis» for the first point** of Line, Rectangle, Circle and Arc: in empty space the first click snaps to the red, green and blue axes, as the Tape Measure already did (#546, #718, @pacaeiro).
- **The plane of Rectangle, Circle and Arc in empty space follows the camera** through the axes' origin: the ground when you look down, the red or green vertical plane depending on where the view faces (#719, @pacaeiro). The shape shows in its plane's colour while you draw.
- **The arrows and Shift lock the drawing plane for the whole shape**, not only before the first click (#545, #543, @pacaeiro).
- **Switch between orbit and pan without releasing the wheel**: press or release Shift while dragging with the middle button (#231, #720, @pacaeiro).
- **Join Segments**, the inverse of Divide: collinear pieces become one line again. Before acting it marks every point in colour, so you can see why one is kept (@canalsecuario-blip).
- **Explode Curve**: a circle or arc back to plain segments, picked one by one.
- **«Ns» right after a circle or polygon** rebuilds it in place with that number of sides (#305).
- **Offset shows the distance live** and lets you retype it afterwards (#604, #665, Luis Romo).
- Push/Pull snaps to the origin mid-push (#407).

**Interface:**
- **Choose your scale figure**: any of the bundled people, or your own cut-out picture with its height (#655).
- **Floating toolbars look like a small window**, with a title strip and a close button; **Window ▸ Restore default toolbars**; tooltips with the name in bold, the key and what the button does (@canalsecuario-blip).
- **Extension menus sort themselves** when you have many: entries of one extension go into a submenu, and with more than 15 extensions the Extensions menu is split by catalog category. Preferences ▸ General lets you always group them or keep the old menus.
- **Model Browser**: make group, make component and explode from the right-click; Make Unique and Select Instances; set a material from the row; batch rename; the eye and padlock act on the whole selection (#561, #490, #565, #87, @canalsecuario-blip).
- **Help ▸ About ▸ Copy to clipboard**: version, system, Qt, OpenGL, screen and language, ready to paste in a bug report, with nothing personal (#476, @canalsecuario-blip).
- Entity Info adds up the area and length of a multiple selection (#274); several scenes can be deleted at once, in one undo step (#280).

**Other:**
- **BIM: reinforcing bar** (`IfcReinforcingBar`) with length, nominal diameter and weight in kg (#495).
- **AI assistant: «Local / OpenAI-compatible»** reaches hosted services whose URL already carries the version (#650).
- **Russian** (#399, @RomanErshow).

## Changed

- **Picking the same library component again places a copy of it** that shares its definition (editing one changes all; Make Unique separates one). Four copies of a 12,600-face piece of furniture used to add 50,400 faces and re-read the file every time; loading now takes 30 ms instead of 440 ms.
- **Installing an unreviewed extension asks first**, naming its author, with No as the default (Victor Crespo). Reviewed and bundled extensions install as before.
- **Push/Pull measures the drag from the spot you clicked**, not the face's centre: a 0.3 m lift near the corner of a large slab used to read 1.8 m.
- **An outline under 1 cm² now closes into a face**, so countersinks and bolt heads can be drawn at their real size.
- **The Extension Manager opens with its pictures already in place**, without flashing when switching tabs, installing or downloading, and a screenshot that failed to download is asked for again (#555).

## Faster

- **Huge models are smoother with either engine** (#158): orbit, pan and zoom on the industrial plant 86 → 34 ms per frame (12 → 30 frames per second on an integrated GPU); moving an object 1 s → 0.25 s per mouse move; undo 4.6 → 2.5 s; entering a group 5.2 → 3.1 s.
- **Hovering with Line over a dense model**: the slowest move 28.7 s → 5.2 s on a 4.7-million-face plant.

## Fixed (the most important)

- **Windows: the Extension Manager crashed on machines with another program's OpenSSL** («CRYPTO_calloc not found») (#564). Qt now uses Windows' own TLS.
- **Windows: the 0.5.8 files carried a test signature** Windows does not trust (#566). This release is published unsigned, as before.
- **Changing the accent colour could break the next Open or close the app on F3** (#654).
- **A shortcut given to an extension was lost on restart** (#595, @tomlai-git).
- **Nothing could be drawn after Zoom Extents on very small parts** («cannot convert float NaN to integer») (#583, @andku85).
- **A guide with invalid coordinates no longer blocks saving** (#723, @kcgemail).
- **Opening another document no longer carries over the previous one's section planes**, hidden toggles, custom scales and layers (#602).
- **Offset keeps the face's holes** (#537); **a rectangle over a face with a hole fills the hole** instead of stacking a face (#538); drawing on the plane of a through hole no longer caps it.
- **Erasing a rectangle's diagonal no longer flips the face** (#529, @GWydouw); **the eraser only takes edges you can see** (#663, @SPMech).
- **A pushed circle's top rim is a curve again** (#626); Intersect Faces no longer fails on nearly parallel faces.
- **The measurements box shows what you typed after Enter** (#607); a comma after a decimal starts the next value (#598, @pkoska); a tool change mid grip-rotation no longer leaves Rotate active (#480, @pkoska); «x5» after a copy makes the array (#542).
- **A section plane no longer lets you snap to what it hides** (#384, @jonson7777).
- **The location map no longer downloads tiles while painting**, which crashed Windows on «Go to location» (#327, @pkoska).
- **STL export is written in millimetres** by default and asks for the unit (#513, @toSvenson).
- **AI assistant works with OpenAI's new models** (#517, @jb-dev-github); it no longer closes the app on some Flatpak setups (#706, @mvanhorn); a sheet made through the AI bridge is one undoable step (#715, @francisreboucas).
- **Imported models**: faces with their own tag land on the right layer (#700) and parts pulled out of a tagged group keep the tag (#703); Zoom Extents frames visible reference images (#702) (@Aaron1992).
- **Flatpak: the Model Browser could crash at start-up** on some machines because of rare characters in its buttons (#658).
- **OBJ/MTL are read and written as UTF-8 on every platform** (APBureauEtude); 3D Text matches letter by letter on Windows and macOS; the 3D-mouse (SpaceMouse) no longer jumps and zooms the right way on Windows.
- The window can shrink and maximise again with many extensions installed; folding the sidebar takes along panels an extension docked by itself.

The full list is in the [CHANGELOG](https://github.com/ingelibre/ingetrazo/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md) (in Spanish).

## Languages

**Russian** is new (#399, @RomanErshow). German brought up to date (Alex Joedt, @Aaron1992); every language carries every new message.

## Known issues

- The Windows installer is still unsigned: Windows may warn when you open it («More info ▸ Run anyway»).
- The Rust engine is experimental and off by default; the Flatpak does not include it yet.
- On Windows, opening a model with millions of faces in the window is much slower than on Linux (#760).
- File ▸ New keeps the previous document's materials, which are then saved into the new file (#759).
