What's New

Adds cluster metrics and improves PostgreSQL connection handling

New Features

  • Track shard release duration with `ClusterMetrics.shardReleaseDuration`
  • Make connection checks interruptible via `connectTimeout`

Improvements

  • Reduce span name cardinality by dropping entity IDs in cluster RPC spans
  • Automatically close the `pg.Pool` on initial connection failures
  • Ensure `effect_cluster_shards` gauge remains accurate during shard handoffs

Bug Fixes

  • Fix hanging connection checks by making them interruptible
  • Maintain accurate shard gauge metrics when locks are lost

Upgrade Notes

Note that these changes belong to different packages (`@effect/cluster` and `@effect/sql-pg`). For the cluster library, telemetry span names no longer include entity IDs, which may require updates to log aggregation queries.
