What's New

Major v2.0.0 release introduces project-aware memory and cloud replication.

Breaking Changes

  • Source consumers must update the Go module path to use v2.
  • Read scoping behavior changed: omitted project selectors now resolve only the current project.
  • Ambiguous current-directory detection now fails instead of implicitly reading all projects.
  • Cloud authentication requires `ENGRAM_CLOUD_ALLOWED_PROJECTS` and a non-default `ENGRAM_JWT_SECRET`.

New Features

  • Project-aware memory with consistent identity resolution and session attribution.
  • Added `mem_judge` and `mem_compare` for persistent memory conflict verdicts.
  • Introduced `engram cloud serve` with Postgres-backed storage and autosync capabilities.
  • Added managed principals, project grants, and dashboard surfaces for Cloud access control.
  • Expanded FTS5 search with project filters, match modes, and CJK/trigram support.

Improvements

  • Project-scoped reads now behave consistently across CLI, MCP, HTTP, export, review, Obsidian export, and sync status.
  • Runtime-bound session attribution prevents writes from being assigned to the wrong session, project, worktree, or agent process.
  • Backup export/import now preserves pinned observations and memory relations.
  • Richer local memory with expanded FTS5 search, topic-key upserts, and conflict detection.
  • Added `engram doctor`, expanded project-management commands, and improved the Bubble Tea TUI.

Upgrade Notes

Update Go module path to v2 and verify Cloud auth environment variables if applicable. Review read scoping logic as project selectors are now required for non-current projects.
