What's New
These are sibling LiveKit plugin packages (neuphonic vs xAI), not sequential versions; the newer one adds idle TTS connection release plus two new pool APIs.
New Features
- TTS instances now release their pooled provider connections automatically once the last activity or session using them closes.
- New `TTS.releaseIdleConnections()` and `ConnectionPool.releaseIdle()` methods allow manual cleanup of idle pooled connections.
- Idle-connection release is implemented across the inference TTS plus the Cartesia, Deepgram, Fish Audio, Rime and xAI plugins.
Improvements
- Pooled websockets from handed-off agents no longer sit idle until process exit, reducing resource leakage.
- TTS instances shared across agents or sessions retain connections until the final consumer finishes, and a session's own TTS stays warm across handoffs.
- In-flight synthesis now closes its connection on completion rather than returning it to the pool.
- Both packages realign on @livekit/agents@1.9.1.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an Inworld streaming issue where an API key update mid-synthesis stranded the listener, by keeping a single pool object for the stream's lifetime.
Upgrade Notes
Because the two releases belong to different plugin packages, there is no direct version-to-version upgrade path; treat this as a feature delta rather than a migration. The idle-release behavior is automatic, so no configuration changes are required, and the new pool methods are additive and optional. Verify your TTS provider plugin is on a build that implements the release hooks if you rely on explicit cleanup.
