AI Summary

This release enhances the font inspector by reading ligature glyph names by their components instead of dropping them. It supports decoding names based on components, Unicode sequences, and suffixes within /Differences arrays and embedded font programs.

Key Highlights

  • Decodes ligature names by components (e.g., f_t, f_f_i) and Unicode sequences (e.g., uni00660069).
  • Handles glyph name suffixes such as a.sc and f_i.liga.
  • Applies decoding logic to /Differences arrays and embedded font programs.
  • Maintains backward compatibility by keeping unrecognizable names as empty.

New Features

  • Read ligature glyph names by their components.
  • Support reading Unicode sequences (uniXXXXXX) in glyph names.
  • Support reading glyph names with suffixes (e.g., .sc, .liga).
  • Calculate widths for multi-letter ligature results via base-14 fallback.

Full Release Notes

Changes since 1.22.0:

- Read ligature glyph names by their components instead of dropping them: names that spell a ligature by components (`f_t`, `f_f_i`, `T_h`), as a `uni` sequence of several code points (`uni00660069`), or with a suffix (`a.sc`, `f_i.liga`) decode to their letters per the Adobe Glyph List specification, in `/Differences` arrays and in embedded font programs' own glyph names; multi-letter results carry their widths through the base-14 fallback. A name that still cannot be read keeps reading as nothing, as in 1.22.0 (#558).

No API changes.

Release preparation: #559.
