v53.3.14 v2026.9.12
jdx/miseSep 19, 2026 → Sep 20, 20261 day between releases
What's New
Introduces experimental daemon system, new package managers, and Docker images with several breaking changes.
Breaking Changes
- The `latest` Docker tag now points to scratch image; switch to `debian` tag.
- `mise install` fails if lockfile version disagrees with platform URL.
- Generated git hooks no longer receive git arguments by default.
- Configs with conflicting WinGet/Scoop package spellings are rejected.
- Daemons export `<NAME>_PORT` and `<NAME>_URL` variables, requiring `proxy = false`.
New Features
- Tasks can declare dependencies on daemons using `[tasks.x] daemons = [...]`.
- New `[daemon_groups]` configuration for daemon management.
- Support for `port = 'auto'` to derive deterministic ports in git worktrees.
- Stable hostnames generated for daemons via reverse proxy.
- New CockroachDB, NATS, and SpiceDB presets.
Improvements
- Lockfile integrity checks now strictly enforce version and URL consistency.
- `mise install --system` elevates with sudo only for the final publish step.
- `brew-cask` fixes allow more casks to install unattended.
Bug Fixes
- Fixes regressions in hooks, npm resolution, and Homebrew cask handling.
Upgrade Notes
Switch Docker usage from `latest` to `debian` tag to avoid scratch images. Review generated git hooks as they no longer pass git arguments by default. Ensure lockfile entries match platform URLs to prevent `mise install` failures.
