AI Summary

Improves the Ascend effect to act as a spectral terrain and fixes stereo panning and particle trail bugs.

Key Highlights

  • Ascend effect now renders as a spectral mountain range that dances with frequency bands.
  • Fixed stereo image creeping to the right by smoothing pan and stereo_corr evenly.
  • Fixed particle effects with zero trail length rendering a black screen.

New Features

  • Improved Ascend effect as terrain
  • Stereo panning and correlation smoothing
  • Particle trail rendering fixes

Full Release Notes

### Changed
- **Ascend is now a spectral mountain range instead of a flat band** — the seven frequency bands each raise their own peak across the width, so the horizon is terrain that dances band-by-band, and brightness lifts the whole range up the frame rather than nudging a low bar pinned to the bottom. A kick punches the range up on the beat. It shipped in v1.15.0 as a nearly-flat line that only slid up and down.

### Fixed
- **A particle effect with `trail_length` 0 whose shader still drew trails rendered a black screen** — the layer went black and flooded the log with thousands of errors a second, with no hint the two settings were coupled. It also hit any trail effect scaled past 500K particles, where trails switch off automatically. Both now render correctly.
- **The stereo image crept to the right** — `pan` and `stereo_corr` rose faster than they fell, so anything moving between the speakers settled right of where it actually sat: a hi-hat panning hard left/right averaged 0.66 where 0.50 is centre. Both now smooth evenly in each direction. `stereo_width` is unchanged, being a width rather than a position.

## Downloads

| Platform | File | Notes |
|----------|------|-------|
| **macOS** | `.dmg` | Universal binary (Apple Silicon + Intel) |
| **Linux x86_64** | `.tar.gz` | glibc 2.35+ (Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+) |
| **Windows x64** | `.zip` | Windows 10+ |

## Getting started

**macOS**: Open the DMG, drag Fosfora.app to Applications (or run directly). Signed and notarized.

**Linux / Windows**: Extract, run `fosfora` from the extracted directory. The `assets/` folder must be next to the binary.

## Requirements

- **GPU**: Vulkan (Linux/Windows) or Metal (macOS)
- **Audio**: Built-in mic or line-in for audio-reactive visuals
- **NDI®** (optional): [NDI® SDK runtime](https://ndi.video) for network video output
- **Video playback** (optional): `ffmpeg` on PATH for media layers
