Full Release Notes
Fosfora has a new interface. It opens in three workspaces, Perform, Build and Setup, with the output as a live preview beside them instead of behind two narrow side panels. <img src="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/kevinraymond/fosfora/v2.0.0/assets/media/ui.webp" width="100%" alt="The Build workspace: the layer stack, Fluvid's controls, the output and the effect catalog"> Fluvid over a dancer video and Aurora. The inspector beside it shows whatever you select, with every section the effect brings, and the chain editor opens there too. - **A catalog of effect pictures** along the bottom of Build, in families, with search and favorites. Hover a picture to see it move; click it to load it, or drag it onto the stack to replace a layer's effect or add a layer. - **Scenes are a strip of cues** in the drawer, in Build and Perform. Each cue shows its preset's picture, transitions sit between them and the playhead runs along the strip. - **Setup is a list of pages**, each device saying its state in words beside an On/Off switch. NDI, the virtual camera, Spout, Syphon and Ableton Link are all there, and Triggers can map Timeline, Tempo ÷2, Tempo ×2 and Tap tempo. - **Send the output to a second display** in a borderless window with no interface on it. Pick the display under the output preview; Esc closes it. - **Every control has a Bind** that opens Bindings with that control already picked, and a bound control names its source on its row (◀ Kick). - **Four guided tours**: First run, which starts by itself once, then Bindings, Chains, and Layers and blending, from the Tours menu or Setup ▸ Tutorials. - **Interface scale** from 80 to 200 % under Setup ▸ Appearance, or Ctrl + and Ctrl −. The output is untouched. - **Themes Light, Gray, Black, and Blue and orange**, plus custom themes: *Save a copy to edit* writes fifteen named colors to a file, and Appearance lists any that fail contrast. ### Changed - **No state is shown by color alone**, and no text is smaller than 12 px at 100 % scale. Status lights have a shape per state, and selections differ by fill, outline or words. - **Midnight, Ember, Neon and High Contrast are retired.** A saved choice moves to the nearest new theme. - **The chain editor opens with C** (for chain) instead of G. - **Post-processing belongs to the preset**: selecting a layer no longer changes it. Master can reset to any effect's recommended look, *Previous settings* undoes a reset, and editing it marks the preset as changed. - **The app opens with an empty Layer 1 over the F**, and Clear stack and a new preset return to that. An empty layer is see-through instead of a dark gradient. - **The launch effect is called Fosfora and traces an F.** Presets and bindings that name it Phosphor still load it, and new setups record to a Fosfora folder. - **Bindings**: the *Effect* tab is now *Preset*, layers are numbered from 1, the window is solid, and an open card no longer cuts off its name, source and target. ### Fixed - **Adding a video layer no longer freezes the app** for ~15 s while it decodes; decoding runs in the background with a progress bar and a Cancel button. - **Kaleidoscope no longer draws a seam** from the center while it turns: *segments* steps in whole numbers. A trama effect can mark such a parameter `"integers"` in its manifest. - Deleting a scene no longer closes the one you were editing, and a long scene name in a non-Latin script no longer crashes the app. - Launching no longer logs a "missing field `layers`" warning for every preset with saved bindings. - A section opens or closes from a click anywhere on its title bar, not only its arrow. ## Downloads | Platform | File | Notes | |----------|------|-------| | **macOS** | `.dmg` | Universal binary (Apple Silicon + Intel) | | **Linux x86_64** | `.tar.gz` | glibc 2.35+ (Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+) | | **Windows x64** | `.zip` | Windows 10+ | ## Getting started **macOS**: Open the DMG, drag Fosfora.app to Applications (or run directly).
