AI Summary

This release rebuilds `claudecode-memanto` as a thin entry point to Memanto's native connection flow, unifying installation commands and removing standalone routing logic. It introduces reliable lifecycle hooks and simplified documentation while removing obsolete client assets.

Key Highlights

  • Native Claude Code connection flow implemented via shared engine.
  • Reliable lifecycle hooks using exact Python interpreter and absolute paths.
  • Ownership markers on hooks ensure safe reinstall and uninstall.
  • Dependency on `mattpocock/skills` and custom transcript-distillation workflow removed.
  • Simplified documentation describing shared native connection flow.

Breaking Changes

  • Removed the obsolete standalone Claude Code client, configuration, extraction, and profile.
  • Removed the skill-map and custom transcript-distillation workflow.
  • Removed the unused example `CLAUDE.md` and integration architecture assets.

New Features

  • Unified `install` and `uninstall` commands delegating to Memanto's shared connect engine.
  • Lifecycle hooks now use the exact Python interpreter that installed Memanto.
  • PreCompact hook passes `-m memanto memory sync` as process arguments.
  • Hooks carry an ownership marker to prevent removal of user custom wrappers.

# Release Notes for claudecode-memanto v0.1.1

This release rebuilds `claudecode-memanto` as a thin, reliable entry point to Memanto's native Claude Code connection flow. It removes the former standalone skill-routing and transcript-distillation implementation, so `claudecode-memanto install` and `memanto connect claude-code` now manage the same instructions, skill, hooks, permissions, and uninstall path.

## Improvements

• Native Claude Code connection flow (`claudecode_memanto/{cli,installer}.py`, `memanto/cli/connect/{engine,agent_registry}.py`)
• `claudecode-memanto install` and `claudecode-memanto uninstall` now delegate directly to Memanto's shared connect engine.
• The integration no longer depends on `mattpocock/skills`, per-skill routing, or the removed custom transcript-distillation workflow.
• Reinstall and removal share the core engine's non-destructive behavior, preserving unrelated Claude Code settings, hooks, instructions, and permissions.

• Reliable lifecycle hooks (`memanto/cli/connect/assets/hooks/hooks.json`)
• Hook commands use the exact Python interpreter that installed Memanto and absolute bundled-script paths, avoiding failures caused by a project's active virtual environment or ambiguous `python` / `python3` resolution.
• The `PreCompact` hook passes `-m memanto memory sync` as process arguments, allowing Claude Code to execute the command correctly.
• Memanto-installed hooks carry an ownership marker, so reinstall and uninstall remove only hooks owned by Memanto rather than a user's custom wrapper that happens to invoke `memanto`.

• Simplified documentation and packaging (`README.md`, `pyproject.toml`)
• Documentation now describes the shared native connection flow, project and global installs, lifecycle hooks, reinstall behavior, and removal.
• The package requires `memanto>=0.2.21`, which supplies the shared connection engine and hook assets.

## Removed

• Removed the obsolete standalone Claude Code client, configuration, extraction, profile, skill-map, and hook implementation.
• Removed the unused example `CLAUDE.md` and integration architecture assets.

## Tests

• `tests/test_connect_engine.py` covers installing, updating, and removing Claude Code hooks while preserving unrelated hook entries and permissions.
