Full Release Notes
v0.2.0 brings God's Eye View to your agent: ask Claude, Codex or ChatGPT to show a place, and the live globe opens right in the conversation. It also adds Recent Imagery, drawing and directions, transit, local radio receivers, live weather, thousands more cameras and much more. ## God's Eye View through your agent - **MCP server and shared tool catalog.** About 40 tools — aircraft, ships, satellites, earthquakes, fires and fire perimeters, launches, CCTV and ALPR cameras, radio, places, routing, transit, traffic, weather, wind, cyclones, recent imagery, infrastructure, military awareness and situation briefs — defined once and used by MCP clients and by voice. - **The live globe in the conversation.** In Claude Desktop and the Codex and ChatGPT desktop apps, answers open as an interactive God's Eye View panel at the right place, with the right layers and style, following an aircraft or riding in its cockpit. Every answer also carries a link that opens the full app there. - **Works locally, with no HTTPS or tunnel.** The panel loads through the MCP server itself. Setup takes a minute: [docs/MCP_SETUP.md](https://github.com/bilawalsidhu/gods-eye-view/blob/main/docs/MCP_SETUP.md). - **Embed mode.** `?embed=1` shows the globe alone for pages that frame the app. ## Imagery - **Recent Imagery** (DATA ▸ Recent Imagery). Select a box, use the current view or drop a pin, and get the last 30 days of keyless NASA imagery — HLS Sentinel-2/Landsat at 30 m and optional VIIRS at 250 m — with thumbnails and cloud cover. Compare in **A/B** mode (swipe between two days) or against the basemap, with one-tap swap. The recommended day **drapes automatically** onto the globe, switching from Google 3D to Esri and back when you clear it. PNG export, and share links keep your box, days and comparison. - Keyless terrain now retries when throttled, drawn shapes drape on keyless terrain, and camera arrivals no longer land underground. ## Draw, route and navigate - **Draw on the world** (DISPLAY ▸ Draw): areas, lines and pins with labels and colours, draped on the terrain. - **Directions** (Utilities): set A and B on the globe for keyless drive, walk or bike routes with turn-by-turn steps, then **FLY** the route step by step. - **Tilt Map and North Up** controls that keep a tracked target centred. - **Keyless place search** everywhere, with typed coordinates and bundled city names resolving instantly. ## Cameras - **Thousands more CCTV cameras** — about 3,400 by default, up from about 800 — with new packs for Ontario, Finland, British Columbia, Texas (Austin, San Antonio and district packs), Estonia, Warendorf, Sydney/NSW and Calgary. - **Live video** for Delaware's statewide DelDOT cameras, with one decoder shared by the camera panel and the 3D projection. - Guessed camera headings now read **ESTIMATED**, and camera monitors no longer clip into terrain. - **Mapped ALPR Cameras**: OpenStreetMap locations of license plate readers in the US and Canada, with bearing wedges and SHOW NEAREST. Locations only, never footage or plates. ## Movement and receivers - **Transit**: keyless live buses, trams, subways, trains and ferries in Boston, Austin, Minneapolis–St Paul, Helsinki, the Netherlands, Norway and South East Queensland. - **Local RTL-SDR and Local ADS-B**: a USB radio in Chrome or Edge for FM and 1090 MHz aircraft, plus local dump1090, readsb or 978 MHz UAT feeds ([docs/LOCAL-RECEIVERS.md](https://github.com/bilawalsidhu/gods-eye-view/blob/main/docs/LOCAL-RECEIVERS.md)). - More precise satellite pass times with visibility, honest PARTIAL and unknown-speed ship states, and military aircraft kept through feed rate limits. ## Weather, fires and environment - **Weather**: keyless NOAA rain radar, infrared satellite clouds and lightning on one observed-history timeline; NHC/CPHC cyclone advisories with forecast tracks and cones; GFS and ECMWF wind with temperature and pressure; weather draped on Google 3D Tiles. - **Fire Perimeters** from NIFC WFIGS with InciWeb links, and MODIS added to Active Fires. - **Street Traffic** roads from TomTom, OpenFreeMap or both, with first dots in a few seconds; public Overpass is no longer used by default. - Infrastructure layers (datacenters, dams, cables and installations) are lighter on screen, release memory when off, and gain bundled country, region, county and military-name packs. ## Scenes, HUD and voice - **Nepal Flood Incident** scene with 25 shots, witness media and before/after imagery; Director gains camera anchors and moves, data packs, feature actions, import previews and sharing. - **Cyber HUD** theme with GPU contact sonar; Data Layers regrouped into Movement, Cameras, Infrastructure, Events and Utilities; key-gated layers name the key they need. - Voice controls the new layers, resolves radio by country name, and handles region questions again. ## Platform, setup and security - Renders on **iPad and iPhone**; trackpad pinch-zoom on macOS; keyboard and screen-reader improvements. - Setup: one Google Maps entry, a server-only Google key, Pinokio Update shows incoming changes, and key saving fixed on macOS and Windows. - Hardening across camera media, track and bikeshare proxies, error messages, the voice debug log, dotenv files and pinned CI actions. See [CHANGELOG.md](https://github.com/bilawalsidhu/gods-eye-view/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md) for the full list. ## Community Thank you to everyone who contributed since v0.1.1. **Security and hardening** - @Lob26 — bounded the realtime debug log and the terrain-height cache, stopped server errors relaying upstream details, made Pinokio Update show incoming changes first, and documented camera-frame handling (#354, #355, #594, #507, #511) - @Tom-Neverwinter — split the server-only Google key from the browser key, cleaned up proxy errors, added the mapped ALPR camera layer and the receiver-tap address contract, and fixed QA on non-macOS platforms (#110, #171, #289, #291, #313, #382, #434) - @prajwal-raj — validated Google text-search coordinates and added a connection timeout to camera media (#383) - @GGPOShadows — made git ignore every dotenv variant and sized the TomTom daily budget to the real free allowance (#678, #677) - @dlucas489 — made the bikeshare proxy refuse redirects and enforce its size cap while streaming (#180) - @Raushankumar0720 — oversized live-track responses return 502 and are never cached (#722) - @Maher-Reven — limited the camera Range header and released abandoned camera streams (#512) **Cameras** - @Danielslay86 — live CCTV video, starting with Delaware's DelDOT cameras (#617, from #489) - @ethanstoner — capped camera snapshot downloads and added an idle deadline to media (#383, #688) - @ch-bas — guessed camera headings now read ESTIMATED with dashed outlines (#643) - @sendmebits — the Ontario 511 camera pack and Nominatim as a last-resort geocoder (#433, #573) - @GladiatorrX9 — Live Traffic NSW cameras and an identifying User-Agent for installation lookups (#433, #570) - @avocadoAgent — Fintraffic (Finland) cameras (#433) - @infamy — DriveBC (British Columbia) cameras (#433) - @JasonMeredith1 — TxDOT San Antonio TransGuide cameras (#433) - @ifnull — the district-configurable TxDOT pack for Texas (#433) - @350d — Estonia camera packs and the Tallinn preset (#433) - @Schnix84 — the Warendorf webcam pack (#433) - @novasofttechnologiesau — Sydney traffic cameras (#433) - @rileygramlich — the Open Calgary camera pack (#514) - @vegettto — corrected the camera panel reset instructions (#509) - @dajiaohuang — removed retired camera flags from the env template (#503) **Traffic, routes and places** - @daikaginza — keyless place search everywhere, Overpass mirror rotation, clearer road-load errors, adsbdb attribution and preset tests (#166, #173, #506, #665, #669) - @spcpza — live transit vehicles from GTFS-Realtime and keyless directions with turn-by-turn steps (#587, #564) - @KuraPiee — coordinates and bundled presets resolve without a key (#572) - @Ashfaqbs — fixed traffic bounds across the antimeridian (#392) - @MiguelGFerreira — the bikeshare proxy addressed by path (#569) - @theGaryLarson — self-hosted Overpass support, part of retiring public Overpass (#742) - @Mkhanal04 — camera arrivals never frame below ground at high elevation (#742) - @ItzDESTAQ — terrain heights no longer time out when Re:Earth slows (#348) - @malekverse — radio country filters recognize common country names (#232) **Aircraft, ships, satellites and receivers** - @mazy1998 — the first in-browser RTL-SDR FM and ADS-B port behind local receivers (#732) - @rDelmotra — more precise satellite pass times and visibility flags (#617) - @theerayutbo — AIS "not available" speed and course count as unknown (#649) - @vortsghost2025 — the setup doctor reports OpenSky keyless mode (#444) - @onionviolet — launches keep unknown payload details;
