What's New

Older release notes provided are for n8n, not pydantic-ai; analyzing v2.54.0 security fixes and new features

Breaking Changes

  • Refuse a second durable execution engine on an agent before either binds
  • End the run when a BackgroundTools tool raises an unexpected exception
  • Handle draft-7 list-form items in JsonSchemaTransformer, TestModel, and Mistral streamed output

New Features

  • Added cancel_and_resume example for streaming runs
  • Added support for reconnecting dropped OpenAILiveModel sessions
  • Defaulted Pydantic AI HTTP clients to OpenAI SDK connection pool limits
  • Use gpt-live-transcribe for OpenAI realtime's default input_transcription_model='auto'
  • Added support for WebSearchTool on OpenAI GPT-Live

Improvements

  • Fixed high-severity concurrency security vulnerability (GHSA-6fqq-452j-qhrp)
  • Improved JSON schema handling for draft-7 lists and boolean subschemas
  • Re-raise model errors from Temporal model activities with their original type
  • Make wrap_* hooks enclose complete stage lifecycles
  • Refuse a second durable execution engine on an agent before either binds

Bug Fixes

  • Fix ImageGeneration under FallbackModel and dataclasses.replace
  • Compare Embedder by identity

Upgrade Notes

Since v2.52.0, the agents folder is not loaded by default; pass agent_folders='agents' to keep loading it. Ensure durable execution engines are bound before use to avoid refusals. Be aware that BackgroundTools now ends the run on unexpected exceptions.
