What's New

Newer tag is a different package (output-worker v1.0.5) focused on observability; no direct delta from just 1.58.0.

New Features

  • Delivery logs now carry trace_id/span_id so Loki logs can be correlated with Tempo traces.
  • Added spike/backlog alerting plus worker lag and outcome metrics for observability.
  • Introduced a service.instance.id OpenTelemetry resource attribute to distinguish worker instances.
  • Targets are resolved through a shared caching async DNS resolver.
  • Free concurrency slots are sampled into logs and OTel metrics.

Improvements

  • Increased delay tolerance and clearer log messages, including better formatting of amounts and durations.
  • Pulsar send helpers were extracted and bounded to limit unbounded sends.
  • OTel meters are no longer rebuilt on every use, reducing overhead.
  • Loading of request attempts from the database was improved.
  • Dependency bumps and regenerated sqlx offline data across the release.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a target IP security issue in the output worker.
  • Improved behavior when object storage encounters problems.
  • Promoted a trace-level log to warn so important events are visible at default levels.

Upgrade Notes

The two tags come from different package lineages (a just utility release versus an output-worker release), so treat this as an output-worker upgrade rather than a diff against 1.58.0. Pulsar consumer stats are now disabled by default, so re-enable them explicitly if your dashboards depend on them. Verify Loki/Tempo correlation and any alerting rules that key off the new worker lag and outcome metrics.
