What's New
Codewhale v0.9.13 to Engram v2.0.0 is a major repository transition with project-aware memory and Cloud replication.
Breaking Changes
- Go module path changed to v2 (github.com/Gentleman-Programming/engram/v2)
- Read scoping now resolves the canonical current project instead of implicitly reading every project
- Legacy binary names 'deepseek' and 'deepseek-tui' are no longer supported
- Ambiguous current-directory detection now fails with available-project information
- New Cloud scope and authentication requirements (ENGRAM_CLOUD_ALLOWED_PROJECTS, non-default ENGRAM_JWT_SECRET)
New Features
- Project-aware memory and ownership with consistent identity resolution
- Optional Cloud replication with Postgres-backed storage and autosync
- Managed access with server-rendered surfaces, token hashing, and audit logging
- Relation-aware retrieval with judgment verdicts (supersedes, conflicts_with)
- Curated prompt capture, topic-key upserts, and duplicate/revision tracking
Improvements
- FTS5 search expanded with project and scope filters
- Improved Bubble Tea TUI
- Backup export/import preserves pinned observations
- Fixed multiline paste, truncated tool arguments, and concurrent instance destruction issues
- Conflict detection and memory relations with judgment verdicts
Bug Fixes
- Fixed multiline paste, truncated tool arguments, and concurrent instance destruction issues
- Conflict detection and memory relations with judgment verdicts
Upgrade Notes
Migrating from Codewhale to Engram requires updating the Go module path and adopting new Cloud authentication environment variables. Legacy binary names are deprecated and no longer supported. Ensure project identity is resolved consistently via configuration or Git metadata.
